Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Find My Accountant handles personal information when you use this website or submit an accountancy enquiry.

1. Who controls your information?

Find My Accountant is operated by Lexio Digital Limited (company number 751189), whose registered office is 77 Whitebarn Road, Dublin 14. Lexio Digital Limited is the data controller for information collected through this website. Questions, requests or complaints may be sent to privacy@findmyaccountant.ie.

2. Information we collect

When you submit an enquiry, we collect the information you provide, including your name, business name, email address, telephone number, business type, turnover range, employee range, county, requested services and optional comments. We also record the enquiry reference, submission time, source page, consent wording and notification status.

Please do not submit unnecessary confidential records, passwords, tax numbers, bank details or identity documents through the initial form.

3. Why we use it

  • To record and respond to your requested enquiry.
  • To determine whether an appropriate participating accountancy firm is available in your selected area.
  • With the consent given on the enquiry form, to send the enquiry to one participating accountancy firm serving that area.
  • To maintain security, prevent spam and investigate technical problems.
  • To keep evidence of consent and manage data-protection requests.
  • To produce aggregated, non-identifying service statistics.

4. Legal basis

We process your information to take steps that you request in connection with finding accountancy support, to pursue our legitimate interests in operating and securing the enquiry service, and on the basis of the consent you provide for sharing with one participating firm. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out lawfully.

5. When information is shared

When you tick the consent box and submit the form, you authorise us to send your enquiry and contact details to one participating accountancy firm serving your selected area. Where a participating firm is available, this may happen automatically after submission so that the firm can contact you. We do not send the same enquiry simultaneously to multiple firms. If no participating firm is available, Lexio Digital Limited will hold the enquiry and contact you before it is shared. A firm receiving an enquiry becomes responsible for how it handles its copy and should provide its own privacy information.

Information may also be processed by service providers supporting website hosting, secure database storage, form delivery and transactional email. They may process information only for the relevant service and under appropriate contractual or legal safeguards. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

6. International processing

Some technology providers may process data outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we require an appropriate transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards.

7. Retention

Unsuccessful or inactive enquiries are normally deleted or anonymised within 12 months of the last meaningful contact. We may retain limited records for longer where reasonably required to demonstrate consent, resolve a complaint, comply with law or protect legal rights. Participating firms apply their own retention rules to information shared with them.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to processing. You may also withdraw consent. Contact privacy@findmyaccountant.ie and include enough information for us to identify the relevant enquiry securely.

You may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

9. Security and email

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect enquiry records. No internet or email system is completely secure. Transactional email notifications are used to alert the operator to a stored enquiry; the database record remains the authoritative copy.

10. Cookies and analytics

The current website does not intentionally use advertising or behavioural-marketing cookies. Essential hosting, security or access-control technologies may operate where necessary to deliver and protect the site. If analytics or advertising technologies are added, this notice and the consent mechanism will be updated before they are enabled where consent is required.

11. Changes

We may update this notice as the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will remain available on this page.
